What beach is girl-friendly???

Some of you have expressed curiosity about which beaches in the NY area are girl-friendly. Well, there are two that I know of, for sure, that are girl-friendly. There you can sit with your honey, hold hands, or just walk by and cruise the girls in their bikinis without anyone minding. Riis Park is the closest, I believe beach #1 —the farthest out on the eastern end— where lots of cuties hang out, in groups, by themselves, with their buddies. It's been a year-after-year tradition to go there and continue the party after a good Saturday night out. Bring your cooler, your radio, a good beach umbrella and you never know who may stop in to say hello. And if you're athletically inclined, there are times when volleyball is a good choice to get a tan.

The other beach, which is also great choice for girls out in the Island is Fire Island, Cherry Grove. Lovely place, with lots of girls everywhere. Of course, it is a major day trip so I encourage you to try to stay overnight so you can party until late without worrying about missing the last Ferry back. Otherwise, make sure to get up really early and not to miss your ferry back. The best times to go are Gay Pride weekend and July 4th. It gets packed with people and lots to do. I believe Shescape is having an event there on July 15th. For more info, go to the Shescape website at www.shescape.com.

Just keep in mind that these beaches are not women-exclusive. There are many of our gay boy friends also there to enjoy themselves. The good thing is that chances are they won't be leering at our girlfriends in bikinis. And if any straight guy ventures into these sections, well, chances are they will be the ones that will be watched like fresh meat for a change, but not by us.

As far as any others, none that I know of. Of course, if any of you know, please feel free to add to this post. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

    Mimi,
I think this blog is a great idea. But I have to say, I feel like women might be more comfortable opening up with their questions and such if they knew what your credentials or background is. Just a thought. Best of luck with your blog. I'll be reading...

Thank you for your kind words of support and great feedback! Following your suggestion, I wrote a few paragraphs about my background, which hopefully will convey why I am doing this blog and thus satisfy visitors' curiosity about the woman behind the project. But I'm sure as you read more and more you'll get a clearer picture of your hostess here. In the meantime, you're welcome to visit as often as possible. Your feedback and presence is always appreciated. And if in anyway this place provides some answer or support to you, then I'd consider it mission accomplished. Thanks and welcome back!
